George Soper

George Soper

George E. Soper, 90, of Volcano and formerly of Kailua, Oahu, died Jan. 1, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired aircraft maintenance superintendent at Hickham Air Force Base and member of the Kaneohe Yacht Club, Kilauea Volcano Country Club, Poakahi Golf Club, Big Island Ukulele Guild, Kani Lea ma Kilauea Ukulele Group and Lei Hulu O Hilo.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Feb. 23, 2013, at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Interment will take place at 10:30 a.m. March 1 at the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl Cemetery).

He is survived son, James Roper of Austin, Texas; daughter, Linda (Nelson) Makua of Keaau; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
